Lesson 9: How Assistive Devices Can Help

For extra security and support when walking, assistive devices—canes, walkers or crutches—can be useful for the person who has a gait or balance disturbance.

These devices should be prescribed by your healthcare provider. You will receive help selecting the right type and size of device, and instructions on how to use it.

It takes a little time to adjust to using these devices…but this pays off in reducing your risk of falls.
